Marcos Sends sympathies to Filipinos affected by California Wildfire

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. expressed his sympathy to Filipinos affected by the large wildfires in Southern California that destroyed over 1,000 homes.

In a message shared on social media, Marcos said, “On behalf of the Filipino people, I send my deepest sympathies to everyone affected by the devastating wildfires in Southern California, USA — a place many of our kababayans call home.” He encouraged everyone to stay strong, compassionate, and united during this difficult time, adding, “Please stay safe and vigilant.”

The wildfires have left many Filipinos and Filipino Americans homeless and seeking help. One Filipino said strong winds made the fires spread quickly, making it hard for firefighters, including air support, to control the flames.

The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles is helping Filipinos affected by the disaster. It is working with local authorities and keeping track of the situation in the affected areas.

Filipinos in need of help can call the Consulate at (323) 528-1528.

So far, the Consulate has not received specific requests for help or an exact count of how many Filipinos are affected, but it is ready to provide assistance.

At least 10 people have died because of the wildfires. President Marcos and the Filipino community have called for strength and support to help those affected rebuild their lives.

Everyone is encouraged to stay safe and look out for one another as recovery efforts continue.
